I just stumbled on an interesting site, but it is still so new, there is relatiively no information to help the genealogist in Southern states. Does anyone know where to find Poor House records for Bryan County. My understand is that it was usually in a farm house setting where orphans (or adults) lived to work for their keep.(Mama always said if we didn't work, we'd end up in the poorhouse, LOL) Anyone with more information?
