Has anyone one ever ran across this name of either men mentioned in the below newspaper article. I know that in 1840, there were only(from memory) about 4 Bankston men and families living in Butts County (according to census) so you would assume he belonged to one of them. But, he shows up nowhere other than this article. Its hard to believe a person/persons could exist during the early time period without a record of some description, but I guess they do. Any help from anyone would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Don Bankston ........................................................................ Federal Union - Milledgeville, Ga. – January 10, 1843 Georgia A Proclamation, By Charles J. McDonald, Governor of said State. Whereas official information has been received at the Executive Department, that a murder was committed in the county of butts in said State, on the fifty;, instant, on the body of Drewry W. Bankston, by John Kimbrough, and that said Kimbrough has fled from justice. Now, in order that said fugitive may be brought to trial, I have thought proper to issue this my Proclamation, hereby offering a reward of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars to any person or persons who may apprehend and deliver said fugitive as aforesaid to the sheriff or jailer of said county of buts; and I do moreover charge and require all officers, civil and military in the State, to be vigilant in endeavoring to apprehend and secure said fugitive, that he may be brought to trial for the offence charged upon him. Given under my hand and the Great Seal of the State, at the Capitol in Milledgeville, this the 13th day of December, A. D. 1842 Charles J. McDonald By the Governor: J. W. A.
