Well, it looks like that one got away from me before I was ready for it to. Thank you so much for your help. By working with several other Byars researchers, I feel like I do have the documentation to prove that the Nathan Byars on the Lawrence Co. Ala. census was born in 1776. On the original 1850 census his age is a smear that cannot be read. He did apply for bounty land for the Creek Indian War of 1812/1813. He applied in Oct. 1850 and again in Dec. 1850 and both times he gave his age as 74. So he was born in 1776. Now we are using DNA to point us in the right direction.
