OKEFENOKEE REGION
A new online index of the Charlton County Herald 1937-1942 has been added to our website at:

You can search the index for events, names, keywords, etc. by using the edit-find function of your internet browser. Archived collections of this newspaper are available at some libraries and also at the Charlton County Historical Society's archives in Folkston, Georgia.
Also on our site is a searchable index of "Queen of the Okefenokee," the biography of Lydia Smith Stone. This book contains references to many of the families of Charlton County from the Indian Wars of 1838 through the era of the Great Depression.
