I am trying to locate the burial site of Jacob and Elizabeth (Betsey) MAYFIELD.
Jacob is last seen in Campbell County District 10 on August 30, 1850 Census.
His will was signed on January 22, 1859 and probated in April of 1859.
His wife Elizabeth Hamilton Mayfield (Betsey) is living with her daughter and her husband, Slone DORSETT and Jane in Campbellton on June 15, 1860 Census.
Jacob and Elizabeth MAYFIELD raised their family in Campbell County since they moved there in 1829
until sometime after 1860 when Elizabeth MAYFIELD died.
Jacob and Elizabeth MAYFIELD are the Great grandparents of 86 year old Carl Mayfield of Springfield, VA.
Carl is a lifetime member of the Campbell County Genealogy Society.
We just completed a trip to Alabama where we located the grave of Hamilton MAYFIELD in Oak Grove
Cemetery, Franklin County, AL. Finding that grave allowed us to provide Carl with photographs and
soil from the graves of his parents James Andrew MAYFIELD & Alice Speakman STOCKLEY;
and his grandparents Hamilton MAYFIELD & Minerva Evelyn COLLINS.
I am hoping that someone in your organization will be able to tell us where we could find the graves of
his Great-grandparents Jacob MAYFIELD & Elizabeth (Betsey) Hamilton MAYFIELD, thus completing
his collection of known MAYFIELD ancestors graves.
