This is what i know about Bartlett

his brother Henry's little information we have is listed at the bottom

1. BARTLETT CROWDER3 MITCHUM (NATHANIEL2, ?1) was born March 05, 1818 in Lincoln Co Nc, and died December 26, 1904 in Middleton, Hardeman Co Tn while a resident of Wise Co TX he was in Tennessee visiting his daughter for Christmas when he got sick from pneumonia and died probably due to his advanced age and the long trip from Texas to Tennessee in the middle of the Winter. He was the son of Nathaniel Mitchum and Jemima Reynolds of Lincoln Co NC. He married NANCY CAROLINE CAMP September 30, 1841 in Carroll Co Ga, daughter of ANDREW CAMP and NANCY MADDOX. She was born 1826 in Ga, and died 1895 in Perhaps around Paulding Jasper Co Ms.

1.       JANUARY 10, 1842, BOOK D, PAGE 362 -

GEORGIA, CARROLL COUNTY.
       THIS INDENTURE, made this tenth day January, A.D., one thousand eight hundred & forty-two, between ANDREW CAMP OF THE County and State aforesaid, of the one part, and BARTLEY (sic) MICHAM (sic) of the same place, of the other part,
       WITNESSETH: That the said ANDREW CAMP hath, for and in consideration of the sum two hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by him the said BARTLEY MICHAM, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath granted, bargained & sold, and does by these presents grant, bargain & sell unto the said BARTLEY MICHAM, his heirs, executors or administrators, all that tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the fifth district of the County aforesaid known and distinguished in the plan of said District lot thirty-two containing two hundred two and one-half acres, * be the same more or less, to have and to hold the said bargained premises with all the rights, members and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining the right & title of which I, the said ANDREW CAMP, will warrant & forever defend from my self, my heirs, executors & administrators and against the Claim of all and every other person or persons whatever to the said BARTLEY MICHAM, his heirs, assigns, etc., in fee simple.
       IN TESTIMONY whereof, I, the said ANDREW CAMP, have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year first above written.

*Note by A.M.D.: 202 and ½ acres was amount of land contained in land lotteries, so ANDREW CAMP probably received this land in a lottery, or obtained it from some person who had first received it in a land lottery in Carroll County, Georgia.


2. OCTOBER 25, 1850 - BOOK F, PAGE 580
GEORGIA, CARROLL COUNTY.
       THIS INDENTURE, made and entered into this 25th October in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Eight hundred and fifty, between JOHN DUKE of the County and State aforesaid of the one part, and BARTLETT MITCHUM of the same place of the Other part,
WITNESSETH: that the said JOHN DUKE, for and in consideration of the sum of Thirty Dollars to him in hand paid at and before the Sealing of these presents, hath Granted, bargained, sold and conveyed, and does by these presents Grant, bargain and Sell unto the said BARTLETT MITCHUM , his heirs and assigns, all that tract or parcel of Land situate, lying and being in the fourth District and fifth Section of PAULDING COUNTY and known in plan of said District as eight hundred and four (lot number).
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD unto him the said MITCHUM, his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple. And I, the said JOHN DUKE, will warrant and forever Defend the Right and title of said bargained premises from the claim of myself and all other persons unto the said MITCHUM, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns.

       This indenture, made and Entered into This the first day of November One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty, between A. N. DENMAN of the one part and BARTLETT C. MITCHUM of the same place of the other part,
       WITNESSETH that the Said A.N. DENMAN has this day, for and in consideration if fifty Dollars to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, bargained and sold, to the said B. C. MITCHUM a certain tract or parcel of land known as lot (802) eight hundred and two, in the 21st District and third Section of CHEROKEE, NOW PAULDING, COUNTY, containing forty acres more or less, the said A. N. DENMAN hereby binds himself, his heirs and assigns, to said bargained premises, with all and singular the rights, members and appurtenances Thereunto belonging unto the said MITCHUM, his heirs and executors and administrators and assigns forever in fee simple.

       THIS INDENTURE, made and Entered into this thirty-first December in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight Hundred and fifty between BARTLETT C. MITCHUM of the one part and HARMON GABLE of the other part, both of the County and State aforesaid,
       WITNESSETH: that the said GABLE , for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred Dollars to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath Granted, bargained and Sold, and by these presents doth Grant, bargain and Sell unto the said MITCHUM, his heirs and assigns, all the North half of lot of Land number (17) seventeen, containing one hundred acres, more or less, in the fourth District of Carroll County.
       TO HAVE AND TO HOLD said bargained premises unto him the said MITCHUM, his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple. And I, the said GABLE, will warrant and forever defend the Right and etc., title of said Land unto him, the said MITCHUM, his heirs and assigns from the Claim of myself and all Other persons.

MITCHUM of the County and State aforesaid, of the other part,
       WITNESSETH, that the said WILLIAM DUKE, for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred Dollars to him in hand paid etc and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the Receipt is hereby acknowledged, hath Granted Bargained, Sold and Conveyed, and by these presents doth Grant, Bargain, Sell and Convey unto the said B.C. MITCHUM, his heirs and assigns, All that tract or parcel of Land situate, lying and being in the Seventh District in the County of Carroll, known and distinguished by the number 107 one Hundred and Seven, containing two Hundred two and one half acres 202 ½ acres more or less.
       TO HAVE AND TO HOLD said tract or parcel of Land and unto him the said B.C. MITCHAM, his heirs and assigns, Together with all and singular the Rights, members and appertenances thereof to the same to his and their proper use, benefit and behoof forever in fee simple and the said WILLIAM DUKE for himself his heirs and executors and administrators the said Bargained premises unto the said B. C. MITCHAM, his heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the Right and title thereof against themselves and the Claim of All other persons whatsoever.

       For and in consideration of the sum of one thousand and fifty dollars to me in hand paid for one half of Lot of Land No. 58 in the Eighth District of the County and State aforesaid, it being the South half of side of said Lot or parcel of land, I do hereby Bargain, Sell and Convey in fee simple unto THOMAS P. SHELNUT, his heirs and assigns, and I do warrant and Guarantee the Right and title to the said Lot of Land against myself, my heirs and assigns and against the right and title of any and every person whatsoever. Given under my hand and Seal this February 25th 1854.

Bartlett is enumerated on the 1900 Census of Wise Co Tx with his son Joseph Mainarc Mitchum

He made a trip to Bolivar Hardeman Co Tn to visit his daughter Julia Ann Mitchum Atkins and got sick on the way there and died and is buried in Old Enon Cemetary in Hardeman Co Tn as is his daughter Julia

Journal (from Livingston, Sumter Co., AL):

"Andrew J. Mitchem was killed by Peter Simmons in Madison County last
Thursday week. Difficulty grew out of settling some business affairs."

In this case the defendant was bound over to the City Court Huntsville on the August Term 1869 in the sum of Twenty five hundred dollars with the following securities to wit J A Phillips, T W Motes, J H Carter.

Despite some extensive research we have yet to learn if Peter Simmons was found guilty of the murder of Andrew J Mitchem the court records for this time frame are missing from Madison Co AL

Notes for JOHN WILLIAM/WILL MITCHUM:
died at age 9 abt 1864 that is what was told to us by a descendant of Joseph his brother but John is on the 1870 Hardeman Co Tn census with his father at the age of 19 so I dont believe he died that early he is not on the 1880 census of Jasper Co MS with his father

In 1843 Lincoln Co Nc
this means that Henry was alive at least until Dec 1843
when this was made for his father Nathaniel's estate these papers do not show where the kids where living except for
Logan one of 13 children and that Joshua was deceased.
