Al,

Thought you might be interested in knowing that we now have two men who descend from Levi John Wooten/Wooden Turner who have done the Y-DNA test as part of the Turner Surname DNA Project.

The men who match our Group 5 (Teal colored on our project website) and match the lines of James Turner who married either Elizabeth Baker or Trammel (who was father of Wade Hampton Turner); the line of William Turner who gave the deposition on behalf of Mary Turner Trammel (husband of Thomas Trammel and whose father was listed as James Turner on her obituary); and Edward Turner born 1778-1780 who married Mary Methvin (this was Nancy Turner Grogan's line that she always believed was related to your Larkin Turner). There are some other Turners in that group that they also match.

I didn't know how to contact you personally but thought this might be something that would help you in your search on Larkin Turner's family. If you haven't checked out our Turner DNA Project website to see what lines we have in that group, it might be something that would now be helpful to you.

Check out our website results chart at:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~turnerdna/

Click on the word "Results" on the left of the screen.

Once the results chart has loaded, scroll down looking for a group that has a teal colored background. Clicking on any kit in the group will take you to the lineage that has been submitted by the researchers.

At least one of these we can confirm was involved in one of three leases for three lives in 1746/1747 in Prince William Co. VA in a part that became Fauquier Co. VA.

We also know that this group is not in any way related to the Meshack Turner line that was in Wilkes Co. GA nor is it related to the group of Hancock Co. GA known as the "Chesapeakers."

We also know they are not related to the Talbot Co. MD Edward Turner who died in 1719; is not related to the Edward Turner who died in Charles or St. Mary's Co. MD.

So, the DNA testing has been a huge contribution to being able to rule out many lines from VA and MD and GA that can not be related to Larkin Turner. Of course, I'd love to see you join us in the project.
