Hi Folks, I've recently posted six JPEG image files to the Chatham County RootsWeb message board. They can be found at the URL link provided below. One-hundred and eighty signatures are found on a four page silk document dating from the time when British forces had evacuated Savannah at the end of the Revolutionary War. Many recognizable names from Savannah and surrounding Chatham County can be found on the four pages of the document. Some of the family surnames recorded are also known from original, upriver counties (along both the Ogeechee and Savannah Rivers) such as Bryan, Burke, Bulloch, Effingham, Richmond, and Screven Counties (or in adjacent parts of SC - e.g., John Clarke of Beech Island and his brother-in-law merchant Ulrich Tobler of Savannah). Typewritten & print transcriptions of both the Declaration / Oath and the signatures are provided with the third through sixth image files. So, to summarize: the files have been uploaded to the described RootsWeb webpage (URL provided below). The contents may be viewed, downloaded, and saved by simply accessing them from that Chatham County message board URL. There are six files attached within four messages posted to that message board webpage. Dale E.
