Infantry, Army of Tennessee, CSA, Screven County Georgia, Black Creek
Volunteers.
4th Sergeant 10 Aug 1861.try, Confederate States of America. Wounded
at Chickamauga G. Sept 19, 1863. Captured near Greensboro Ga, Aug 31
1864. Exchanged at Rough and Ready Georgia Sept 19 1864..

The unit was part of the Reserve Corps of the Army of the Tennessee,
under Major General W H T Walker. It was part of Wilson's Brigade and
was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel A. J. Williams. Apparently (from
a reference by a Yankee ...captured twice, once at Jackson and once
at Franklin, Tennessee in the Nov-Dec 1864 time frame.
Quote from: I. G. Bradwell, of Brantley, Georgia. He was in camp near
Savannah, Georgia in 1861 and had this to say:
"Our first encampment was at Camp 'wilson on the Shell road, an
extension of Whitaker Street, and some distance beyond the Atlantic
and Georgia, now the Atlantic Coast line RR. This was a large level
field and occupied by the 25th and 27th Ga. regiments when we
arrived. The former cmmanded by Col. Norwood, afterwards Unites
States Senator from Georgia, and the latter by Col. Alexander. We
had not been in these camps many days before we were invaded by
measles, that dread enemy of all new soldiers, and many of our men
died or were rendered unfit for gurther service. Other diseases
thinned our ranks........(some deleted)
"While at Camp Wilson, when on guard, I often admired the splendid
appearance of the 25th Ga. Reg. as it was maneuvered by Col Norwood,
in his beautiful uniform and mounted on a superb horse. Sometimes
they would come foward me, standing there on my post at the edge of
our camp, in along line, every knee bending at the same time to the
lively music of a brass band. But just before they reached me, the
command was always given and they wheeled off in another direction,
and my fear of being run over was relieved."

FUQUA, LOUISE J., born April 23, 1915 in Wildwood, FL passed away
January 22, 2008 in Orlando, FL.
A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at The
Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit at 10AM, 601 S. Highland Avenue,
Apopka, FL.
She is survived by her son, Jeffry B. Fuqua of Winter Park, FL and two
grandchildren, Christine Fuqua Gay of Jacksonville, FL and Joseph
Fuqua of Los Angeles, CA.
Mrs. Fuqua was married to the late Ben H. Fuqua for over 50 years
until his passing in 1992.
Mr. and Mrs. Fuqua were longtime residents of Coral Gables, FL until
their relocation to Apopka, FL in 1976.
Throughout her life Mrs. Fuqua was an avid golfer, dog lover, and
member of the Episcopal Church, most recently The Episcopal Church of
the Holy Spirit, in Apopka, FL.
She was especially fond of the Chesapeake Bay Retriever "Savannah".
