You have been a great help!!!!! I am so excited I was aware of some of the information you provided but was confused as the marriage of Henry Battle and Missouri Battle and the boarder of Ruby Carter. Missouri Battle is my great - grandmother and Lula Battle was my grandmother. Lula Battle (my grandmother) was married to James Williams. On the 1920 Cenus it shows Missouri Battle as her mother and James Williams as his mother-in-law. I know it is her, because my mother is listed along with my aunts and uncles. Perhaps my grandmother (Lula) as you showed was a stepdaugher, and the census does not show any connection to Henry Battle. I thank you so much for responding because I think you have cleared up some questions in my family for many years. My family does seem to think that Missouri was of Cherokee heritage, but no one can remember her maiden name, hopefully, I can find it. You are wonderful....
