Will or probate for George M Bruce died abt 1855 in Cherokee, GA

I have been looking for a will or probate record for George M Bruce born abt 1777 in South Carolina, died according to unsourced data about 1855 in Cherokee CO, GA. Would anyone know where to look for such records? Someone mentioned that they might have been burned. Does anyone know if that might be the case? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
