Athens, Ga., May 8 1893.....Athens beat the novels on romantie marriages today.
Mr John McDormand and Miss Irene Peeler after a happy married life of a few months and a separation, were reunited in wedlock by Re. S H England in this city today.
Several years ago there was not a prettier or more popular young girl in Ahiens than Miss Irene Peeler nor a more gallant and promising bean than John McDorand. Mr McDormand was one among Miss Peeler's many admires, and nobody doubted that between the there existed a strong and beautiful case of mutual love. The courtship was one of perfect devotion and ideal love, and was followed by a beautiful wedding and thousands of congratulations.
But for some reason the union seemed not a congenial one. separation followed estrangement and disagreement. Mr McDormand went west, engaged in business and did well, but as his fortune increased so did his longing to return to the home of his youth, and sometine age he arried in Athens and soon decided to stay and established a mercantile business. After the separation, Miss Peeler, whose maiden name was returned by the court, herself went into business and made a succesfur and independent livehood, and when the husband of her girlhood returned, he found her prosperous and happy.
A few meetings and friendly greetings caused the old loers to realize thai in the long suppressed feelings of their souls lurked embers of the font passions of their youth that it required only a limited association to burst into a flame of loe een mor ardent than that of their love's young dream. To make a long story short.
Yesterday (9 May 1893), in the cozy little cottage home of the bride on Oconee street, the solomon words of law and gospel were eloquently repeated that made them a second time man and wife.Tonight scores of the friends of the popular but romantic bride and groom are calling at the happy home and offering congratulations and wishing Mr and Mrs McDormand a long and happy life.
