Hi Charles. Thanks for the reply. Except for the names William and Elizabeth/Eliza, it doesn't seem that the rest matches. I should have put that William's middle initial is F.
Here is my delimma:
I have (at first given and then found)on the 1860 Neshoba Co census in Mississippi that Eliza C (B??) Stanfield is remarried to Zachariah Jordan. I can not find Mr. Stanfield, so I don't know whether he has died or deserted the family or what. Mrs. Eliza C Stanfield would have had to marry Mr. Z. Jordan by 1856-7 because they have a 3 year old child on the 1860 census.
This is what is on that census (pg 37, Lines 9-16, J635)
JORDAN Zachariah 49 M farmer 2800 GA
Eliza C 26 F hk GA
Wm. R 24 M Farmer 500 GA CW??
STANFIELD Emma 8 F Ala (only census that
shows this)
Ella 8 F Ala
Wm F 6 M GA
JORDAN Elviann 3 F Ala
Thomas J 1 M Ala
The William R Jordan is the oldest son of Jachariah and his first wife.
By 1870, Eliza C (B??)Stanfield Jordan is back in GA without Zachariah. The 3 Stanfield children are there asis Elviann and Thomas J Jordan and a younger sister who was born in 1862.
Now, since Eliza C (B?) Stanfield was born in GA and since she married Zachariah Jordan in about 1857, the 3 Stanfield children may have been young enough that the rest of the censuses up through 1930 may have showed Emma's father as being born in GA because she considered the step-father Z. Jordan her father. He too was born in GA. But why would GA be shown as the birthplace of the twins on the 1870 census and all other censuses as GA also?
William F Stanfield is the only one of the 3 Stanfield children shown as born in GA through all the censuses (1860-1910) and after his death, shows on his children's census records.
So I guess I'll try Alabama and Mississippi also as possible Mr. Stanfield birth/death place. I will take the names you gave me also and see if any of those may fit in some way in those states.
Clear as mud??? If you do run across something else that could possibly fit, please let me know.
