Hello all, I am hunting the possible burial location of my ancestor, William W. McCollum who fought and died at the battle of Chickamauga during the Civil War. His family has long-time roots in Georgia, especially around Cobb, Hall, Bartow and Cherokee Counties. I just found out that this once lost ancestor was living in Alabama at the time and fought with the 50th Alabama Infantry, Company D and that alot of the men who fell at Chickamauga were reinterred at Marietta Confederate Cemetery. I am hoping that someone out there can find out if he is listed in the Cobb County cemetery/burial books. I found a note that said the known Confederate burials were included in Vol. I of the series but that there were Union burials listed in Vol III. Is there anyone with a copy of these books willing to take a look for the following name: "McCollum, William W"? He was usually listed by his initials "McCollum, W.W.". I would be forever in their debt should we confirm either that he IS or is NOT listed. He could be one of the lost graves, but I am hoping we can find him. My eternal thanks in advance. ~Mike Nichols TX Notify Administrator about this message?
