You do have a mystery on your hands and you probably have spent years working on it. Not knowing the surname that Pinkie used doesn't help matters either. I can't resist a mystery or challenge, so I tried to find Pinkie and Sylvester using both Hazen and Hightower. But I can see where you could spend years attempting to put the pieces together.
I did find where a Sylvester Hazen died in Manatee Cty Fla on March 24, 1991; white; dob Jan 28, 1920. The dates from the Fla death index also match a Sylvester Hazen on the SS death index, , there it states that the SS number was obtained in Michigan. I couldn't find this Sylvester Hazen on any 1930 census. Doing a search for any white Hazen child born 1920 + or - 2 yr, there were only 22. Expanding the timefroam 5 years either way, didn't help. No Sylvester Hazen on WWII draft registration.

From one of your posts, you mention that Pinkie's mother was Atlanta Hazen, is that correct?
