Hi Bernice

Yes the story goes that Atlanta Hazen was the mother of Pinkie, a girl. Atlanta was the sister of Lillie Hazen, the wife of Martin James Taylor. I don't know if Pinkie was born before or after Atlanta married Thomas Hightower. Her half brother then would be Sylvester Hightower, but I can't find one. Martin James Taylor had no children named Sylvester. I'm hoping that maybe someone in Pearson might recognize the story and jumnp on it. One of my mother's cousins once spoke of going with his grandfather, Martin James Taylor to Pearson to visit with someone. He dropped Martin off and picked him up and asked who the person was. Martin only said "someone very special". Other cousins now surmise it could have been Pinkie that he liked to visit. However Atlanta and family always lived in Florida.

One other story that I thought would be easy to disprove was that maybe Estelle born in 1903 was the child of one of Lilly's sisters. Estelle was my grandmother and she never lived in Pearson. I tried to get her birth certificate and Florida doesn't have it on file. She was born April 1903 in Bradford county. So you see I've been getting nowhere. If you know anyone in Pearson who might help let me know.

Retha
