Hi, Patricia. Yes, I can help some.

1900 census, Militia District 1151, Moultrie, Colquitt, GA, household 461/468:
William J. Alderman, July 1852, 47, married 18 years, born GA, father born NC, mother born GA; farmer
Rutha F., wife, Jun 1962, 27, married 18 years, 6 children, 5 living; born GA, parents born GA
John, son, Dec 1882, 17
James, son, Aug 1886, 13
Fanie, daughter, July 1891, 8
Sallie, daughter, Sept 1894, 5
Hamton, son, Jan 1897, 2

Some of the dates are not accurate - Rutha Norman was born in 1861, and Daniel Hampton in 1898. You'll notice that W. J. and Rutha had had 6 children, but one had died. I have no idea who that may have been. But here's what I have on the other 5:

John Richard Alderman (24 Dec 1882 - 12 Mar 1973) These dates come from his tombstone, which I photographed in Westview Cemetery, Moultrie, Colquitt, GA. The dates are confirmed by his listing in the Georgia Death Index and also in the SSDI. He was a physician, and he married Minnie Manning (01 Sep 1886 - 24 Jan 1967) - her dates from her tombstone in Westview, and death date is confirmed by the Georgia Death index.

The next child is a tad problematic, but I THINK the following applies to him!
James H. Alderman, born Aug 1886, according to the 1900 census. He seems to have been married twice: first to Nancy Castleberry on 26 Dec 1909 (Colquitt Marriage Book D, page 12) and second to Rutha Reeves 27 Apr 1918 (Colquitt Marriage Book F, page 21). I imagine Nancy died, but I don't know that for sure. In the marriage record with Nancy he is listed as Jim Alderman; in the record with Ruth he's J. H. In the 1910 census he's in Lee, Colquitt, GA, age 23, a farm laborer, with wife, Nancy, 19 - it's the first marriage for both and they've been married 0 years [enumeration was 15 April, so they'd been married only a few months]. He appears in his parents' household in the 1920 census, age 33, with 18-year-old wife Ruth and an 8-year-old daughter named Ruby. He has no occupation in 1920. I haven't yet found him in 1930.

I have as yet no further information on the two daughters, Fannie and Sallie, except that Fanny, age 27, was still at home with her parents in 1920. She and Sallie both were at home in 1910. In 1910 their ages are given as 17 and 16.

You already know about Daniel Hampton, the baby.

I'm still working on this family - hope eventually to discover what happened to James H., Fannie and Sallie.

Best,
Lowell
