I am looking for George Washington EVANS. He is associated with the Evans Plantation, and may be the same GW Evans that was the mayor of Augusta, GA. Both GW and his father, Christmas, may have come to America from Wales. George Washington EVANS would have been born abt. 1830. One wife may have come from Germany. He had a son named David J. EVANS and a son named Frank. GW EVANS may be the same one that married Emily Frances Alexander BERRY, the widow of Benjamin BERRY. GW died in her home at Cedar Grove about 1876 0r 1877, and he may be buried in the Magnolia Cemetery in Augusta, GA. This has been a great family mystery. Can anyone help?
