My gg-grandfather Benjamin Smith was born 8/24/1833 in Georgia and died 8/18/1918 in Arkansas. I think I may have located him on the 1860 Columbia County, GA census: Benjamin Smith, 26, laborer, born in GA, living with the family of Adam J. Smith, 30, merchant, born in GA. If so, I suspect he may be one of the sons of John C. Smith, b. 1800 in VA.
Anyone out there who may be able to help out with information on this family? It's sure tough to research Smiths!!
