Zere/Zira/Zedikah McDaniel who was responsible for the torpedoing of the USS Cairo on the Yazoo River during the Civil War is my GG-Grandfather.
I have the book “The Sinking of the USS Cairo” by John Wideman (another descendant) and have read what he was able to collect.
Would be very grateful for any additional information concerning his life and times. Marion McDaniel of Columbia County was a brother to Zere. I have been unable to locate less than a dozen of the McDaniels of Columbia and Jenkins counties burial sites. Any additional info would be appreciated.
