Hi Forumers, My g2-grandma was Ivanona Mudora (Willingham) Jones, daughter of Isaac Willingham and Mary F. (Carlisle) Willingham. Of that much I am pretty confident. Also note the following census records: 1850 Census, Randolph County, Alabama, Beat No. 2, Page 293B, HH#191/191: * Willingham, Isaac 29 M farmer 100 GA * Willingham, Mary T. 27 F SC Willingham, John F. 8 M GA (attended school) Willingham, Mary A. 6 F AL Willingham, Isaac 3 M AL Willingham, Wm C. 7/12 M AL 1850 Census, Randolph County, Alabama, Beat No. 2, Page 294(A), HH#197/197: * Willingham, John C. 60 M farmer 150 GA * Willingham, Sarah 55 F GA (cannot read & write) Willingham, Cottis[?] N.[?] 24 M farmer GA Willingham, Griffin 21 M farmer GA Willingham, Nancy B. 19 F GA Willingham, Julia 10 F AL Willingham, John 7 M AL 1860 Census, Randolph County, Alabama, Southern Division, Wedowee Post Office, handwritten page 16, Page 642, HH#111/111: {image 244/461} * Willingham, John C. 74m farmer 300 500 Georgia * Willingham, Sarah 66f housewife Georgia (cannot read & write) Willingham, Matilda A. 20f househand Alabama Willingham, John W. 18m farmhand Alabama (attended school) [Note 1: Matilda A. Willingham is said to be aka "Julia".] 1860 Census, Randolph County, Alabama, Southern Division, Wedowee Post Office, handwritten page 17, Page 643, HH#114/114: {image 245/461} * Willingham, Isaac 40m farmer 350 500 GA * Willingham, Mary F. 38f housewife SC Willingham, John F. 17m farmhand GA (attended school) Willingham, Mary A. 15f househand GA (attended school) Willingham, Isaac N. J. 14m AL (attended school) Willingham, William P. 10m AL (attended school) Willingahm, Sarah J. 8f AL (attended school) Willingham, Martha C. 5f AL * Willingham, J. M. 2f AL I understand that John C. Willingham is the father of Isaac Willingham. Their close proximity to each other in the 1850 and 1860 census records suggests this is true, but I would feel better if someone could help my prove it beyond doubt. Did John C. Willingham leave a will, for example? Also, I am wondering about the WILLINGHAM line upwards from there. I have seen the claims to Columbia Co., GA, and Lunenburg County, Virginia prior to that. I think these things may be correct, but again, I would like to see some proof. And, of course, I am interested in all the collateral lines (Carlisle, Spinks[?], Brown, etc.) as well, and generally any documentation on any of these folks. One thing I am really interested in is GRIFFIN. I can't figure out why that names exists in "my" Willingham line. I can see why it exists in other WILLINGHAM lines, because there was intermarriage with GRIFFIN in those lines. But in "my" line, I can find no GRIFFIN, yet it is used as a given name. And it doesn't come from uncles (by marriage) either. The closest I can come is to an aunt by marriage. This is not usually the way kids are named, in my experience. So I am thinking there is likely another GRIFFIN marriage hidden in there somewhere. Cheers, Gregg http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gbonner/willingham.html Notify Administrator about this message?
