GEORGE RAY--there were 2 George Rays in Georgia. I am not related to either of them but have found the following information while trying to find my MR. RAY possibly JAMES RAY who married JEANEY (Virginia, Jenny) BOBO b. ca 1768 in Granville, N.C. or Union Co. Cross Keys S.C. I believe Jeaney married one of the sons of JOHN RAY b. 1710 VA & Susan VANCE-The Ray & B)JBO families lived near each other in Cross Keys Union Co. S.C. --JAMES RAY did own a mill in Columbia Co. GA. & so did Joseph Ray but JOSEPH RAY married Nancy BOBO, Jeaney's sister & its quite possible Jeaney married James RAY. For those of you doing RAY GENEALOGY I NEED HELP & I figure if I help some of you, maybe you can help me. Thanks. Ross says his GEORGE RAY lived in Wilkes Co. GA & maybe Greene Co GA in the late 1780's & early & mid 1790's & then went to Jackson Co. GA, a few counties over from Wilkes Co. GA in the late 1790's. George had son Solomon Ray who married Jane Echols in 1796 in Wilkes Co. GA. & they went also to Jacklson Co. GA. Clarke Co. GA was formed in 1801 from Jackson Co. GA George Ray's land was then in Clarke Co. GA. He says he knows he went to Jasper Co. GA about 1811 (It was called Randolph Co. GA before that) There was a GEORGE RAY that signed some documents about the estate of Solomon Ray who he assumes was the George Ray who was the father of Solomon. Jane signed also. Some researchers say George Ray died 1819 in Jasper Co. GA because they can not find any records about a George Ray after that. He says there were 2 George Rays in GA. His George Ray & another George Ray who lived in Colombia Co GA & d. 1804 in Columbia Co. GA. Abstract of GEORGE RAY'S WILL--Columbia Co.
