Can anyone help me find out more about Sophia Lord's parents? I think they were Absalem Lord and Mary Unknown.
Sophia Lord and Ichabod Phillips married in Columbia Co., GA on 3 Feb 1798 and their marriage bondsman was Absalem Lord. Was this her father as I think some have assumed and if this is true, was he the son of Joseph Lord who died 6 Oct 1766 in Cumberland Co., NJ and his spouse Mary Unknown? Joseph and Mary probably had 8 children and Absolem is listed as one of them. I also find an Absolem Lord listed in the 1793 NJ census living near Maurice River and again in the 1895 NJ census near the Maurice River. (Obviously not the same person!) One of Sophia and Ichabod Phillips' sons was named Absolem Phillips and Sophia was living near him in the 1850 Columbia Co., GA census. Thanks, Faye
