Valdosta ? what county, also Adel in Cook co. Ga. Thornton's

Henry Nathaniel Thornton 1828-1966 buried in Valdosta Ga. Henry had10 kids in his family who apparently went in many different directions some down to Tampa Fla, some to Dallas Texas area and some are still in the Georgia area.
Henry had 4 children by his first wife, America Cowart who died in the flu epidemic in the early 20's and their names were Gladys, Faye, Eugene .Carmen.
Is there anyone in Georgia that knows where / what county Valdosta is? IF anyone knows of this Thornton line please help me find the 10 children of Henry N. Thornton..
