I am a lookup volunteer for Coweta County and am NOT related to this family. However, here is some information which may be helpful to you...

1850 Coweta census has many SMITH's, as you noted.
household #753 of the 19th division
SMITH
Phil A.D. - 34, farmer, b. SC
Minerva - 32, b. SC
Hariet A. - 10, b. GA
John A. - 8
Philip A. - 4
William - 2

household #757 of same division
SMITH
Christopher C. - 29, blacksmith, b. GA
Nancy - 29, b. GA

The Coweta County Marriage book has no listing for a SMITH groom named Phillip (or variation). However, it does have this:
SMITH, Christpher - JORDAN, Nancy 08-30-1845

The 1860 Coweta census has no listing for a household headed by Philip SMITH. But there is this:

household #3 of Newnan Post Office
SMITH
Christopher - 38, mechanic, b. GA
Nancy - 38, b. GA
Joseph - 7
Andrew - 1
JORDON (sic)...
John - 25, plasterer, b. GA

1870 Coweta census, the only one I can spot if John Jordan who is now married with a family. If you want that info, let me know.

Coweta Co., GA Early Wills (abstracts)
Will Book B, p. 123
John A. SMITH, 3 July 1856
Brothers: Andrew J. (Nathan Simms, Trustee),
William B. (Nathan Simms, Trustee),
Jesse,
Christopher C. Smith.
Sisters: Loucinda C. (Mrs. Thomas Collier),
Mary Ellen Smith (Nathan Simms, Trustee).
Nephews and Nieces: Tompie Black, daughter of Elizur Black; Charles Carter, son of B.F. Carter; Loucious Carter, son of James M. Carter; Charles Collier, son of Francis Collier.
Exec: Nathan Simms
Wit: James W. Harkins, W.B. Roberson, S.H. Hubbard

The above family appear to be children of a Jesse Smith, early settler in Coweta County around 1830. No mention of Philip, but Christopher C. and others are mentioned as his children.

Unless you're hunting a different Christopher, it would appear that the one living near Philip in 1850 is not a brother.

I hope that something here is helpful to you.
