Diana,
I have John Dickson, son of Michael Dickson and his wife Margaret Barnett as being born 1780-90 (based on the 1830 Hancock Co., GA census, pg 151). John Dickson married Sarah Thompson in Hancock County on April 27, 1815. I have one son listed for them, Quincy Dickson born abt. 1830, but there were many other children according to the census records.

In 1850, Hancock Co., GA census page 151, HH #500/510:
Dickson, John 60 M Farmer $35,000 GA (making his birth 1790)
Dickson, Sarah 54 F GA
Dickson, Quincy 20 M GA
I have always assumed the above was the son of Michael & Margaret Barnett Dickson, but I have no solid proof of that. Michael does name a son John in his will of 1803 among others including Benjamin Dickson, who is my direct ancestor. Hope this helps you sort out your guy.
