Anyone know of a Frazier family living in Dade Co. during the 1890s and early 1900s? My g-grandfather was Andrew Jackson Frazier (or Jackson Frazier...or simply "Jack" Frazier) who was married to Mary Evaline (or simply "Evaline") Chadwick. They lived in or near Rising Fawn from about 1885 to the birth of their last child in 1897. Then, we know that Jack Frazier went off and married "Mrs. Vandergriff" -- presumably of the south Tennessee Vandergriffs. Evaline may have gone off into DeKalb, Alabama and lived there after he left. There was always a rumor of her being so destitute that she had to put her three youngest children in an orphanage in Ft. Payne, Ala. This while there were other Chadwick siblings in Dade who could not, for whatever reason, help their sister out. Times were hard for everyone I guess. Whether there was a divorce, no one knows. There are marriage records for a couple of Jack Frazier's sons in Walker Co. in the teen and 1920s, and I can trace all of Jack Frazier's children to the places they ultimately ended up. But I've got nothing on Jack Frazier or Evaline Chadwick themselves. If anyone believes they know something about Fraziers in Dade County, I would surely appreciate hearing from you. This is the "mother of all brick walls" -- geneologically speaking. Sue Forrester was a big help in trying to focus me on the Dade records a while back. She is sorely, sorely missed. She was a great lady. Thanks everyone.... Lee Frazier Alexandria, VA Notify Administrator about this message?
