Lumpkin Parkes Adams, born 1869 in Elbert Co., the son of Singleton Allen Adams and Sarah Milligan Bond, left Elbert Co. and married 15 May 1899 in Newton Co., MS to Mattie Day, daughter of Zachariah Day. By 1900 they were in Leake Co., MS with a daughter Claude, age 2 mos. By 1910 Mattie was heading the household in Forrest Co., Hattiesburg, MS with children Claude, 10, Lowery, 5, and Evelyn, 2. By 1920 Mattie had remarried to William C. Little and they were still in Hattiesburg with children Claude, Lowery and Evelyn Adams, and children Mildred and Jessie Little. By 1930 W. C. Little, Mattie and children Mildred, Jessie and Robert Little, and Evelyn Adams, 21, were in Rankin Co., MS. Lumpkin reportedly had died in a railroad accident. The SSDI shows one Lowery Adams, born 27 Apr 1905, died May 1969 in Jackson, Hinds Co., MS. Would like to make contact with any descendant of Lumpkin P. Adams, my great uncle.
