Seeking information on John Emmett Henry, born May 18, 1818.
He married first Martha Bowen abt. 1847. They had 6 children. Martha died either during or shortly after the birth of their last child on Feb 23, 1862.
John then married Rachel Branch on May 11, 1862. She was the daughter of David Branch & Charity Hagen (Hogan) Branch. Rachel had 2 illegitimate daughters from a prior relationship, Nancy and Annie Eliza. John and Rachel had 2 children together.
John's oldest son, Alexander, later married Rachel's daughter Nancy Branch. This is my line.
John Emmett died on February 6, 1900. He is buried in Lamb's cemetery in Emanuel County.
I have heard that his father was born in Virginia and his mother in South Carolina, but have no proof, nor can I seem to find any info on them, not even their names. I do not know if John had any siblings or not.
It seems he lived in both Treutlen and Emanuel counties.
I have no info on his first wife Martha or where she is buried.
I have quite a bit of info on Rachel. I do not know where Rachel is buried.
At one point, John Emmett owned land adjoining that of Rachel's mother. Rachel's parents, and some of her siblings, are buried in the Wilkes Cemetery in Treutlen county.
Any info on John would be GREATLY appreciated. He is my GGG grandfather, an we share the same birth date!
