Burton Jones was enumerated in the 1860 in Fayette Co. (household 901,family 901). He was a farmer age 38. His wife was Elizabeth age 37. Children were Martha A., age 10; Wm. G, age 7, Wiley F., age 4 and America R. age 1. Does anyone know what happened to this family? Was Burton killed in the Civil War or did they leave GA? The only Burton in GA in the 1870 census is black and in Sumter Co.

I believe based on what I was told in the 1970s that he was an older brother of Harrison Jones (b. 1828 in Clarke Co. and Robert Jones b. 1830 in Fayette Co.). I was also told there was a brother Paschal or Pascal. I have found no record of him. There is record of the eldest brother, Jesse Jones, Jr. but I have less on him than on Harrison and Jesse.

Is anyone researching any of these Jones brothers? Sister was Martha Jones McLean Jones.
