I'm sorry to hear about the condition of the cemetery. It's interesting that the church and city both deny ownership.
Two of my ancestors donated the land for the cemetery and original church (now the city hall), They donated the land to the trustees of the church. I would assume Fayette County land records will indicate the current legal owner of the cemetery.
Jared Handley and Willis Landrum were the two men who donated the land to the church. Jared Handley was my 3rd great grandfather. I believe you asked about his descendants in another posting.
