Looking for a Childers in Floyd Co. Starting about 1870 until 1880 where they were in Dekalb Co.AL. Not real sure of the Childers mans name. Could have been Will or William. Also could have been Henry. I know the woman was Martha Emeline Mitchell from TN. Married a Childers shorly after 1870. Had a child in 1873. I am looking for a marriage record between this Martha E Mitchell and the Childers/res. I know Martha had a daughter from another marriage named Mary Jane Mitchell who married a JJ Bouldin in Floyd Co on Sept 1st 1879. At the time JJ lived in Dekalb Co.AL. Story is that he and Mary J. Mitchell rode a horse or mule to Floyd Co to be married. This leads me to believe that Mary Janes's mother may have been living in Floyd co at the time of the wedding. By 1879. What else would make them go that far when they could have been married in Dekalb Co? Martha and Mr. Childers had 3 children Eliza b. 1873 William b.1875/6 and Kate b.1877. If there is anyone that might research some of these names I would appreciate it so very much. Eliza was my G. grandmother( Eliza Moon). (wife of Joseph H Moon) I know nothing about her except she gave birth to my grandmother in 1908 and died shorly after that. We have always thought she died in Cherokee Co Al. I can't find anything showing this to be true. Except that is where my grandmother was fostered out to an older couple named Charley & Malinda Hawkins in Cedar Bluff Cherokee Co AL. I don't have any information where Eliza died or where she is buried. I am hoping to find leads from some where to gain some knowledge about Eliza.
