My grandmother was Ellen Red, the daughter of Joshua Luther Red and Cassandra Ann America Brooks. (Cassandra's father was Moses Brooks.) Joshua L. Red's father was James Red, Jr. and his mother was Mahuldah Sewell. This came from census records. I had listed the father of Mahuldah Sewell as Joshua L. Sewell, but find a notation in the book, Family of James and Martha Red, (by Bryan LaFayette Redd, Jr., M.D. and Arla Bateman Redd) reading "personal communication" that her father was James Irving Sewell??? Can you help me with any of this?
