He and his wife, his parents and sister Margaret then moved to North Georgia around 1816 into Hall County.

Note: William came over on the ship called "The Volunteer" from Ireland and landed in Charleston, South Carolina on St. Patrick's Day in 1795. He came over with his parents,
James and Nancy Boyd, and his siblings, Thomas, Samuel, Mary Ann and Margaret. Margaret was born aboard the ship on the journey across the Atlantic.

The girls names were Nancy and Margaret.
