I understand that Cullen Davis, b abt. 1789, d. Abt. 1849, was a Clerk of the Beaver Ruin Church in the 1830's. Cullen Davis was a son of James Davis, d. between 1820-24 in Hall Co., Ga. His mother was Lavica/Lavicy Davis The 1830 census had "Luncy", The family moved to Forsyth Co., after 1830. Another daughter, Ruth Davis married William Humphrey and lived out their lives in Forsyth Co. Lavica Davis was living with her daughter, Ruth Humphrey from 1840 though 1850. She was born 1775 in Georgia according to the 1850 census, showing her age as 75 years. Other known children besides Cullen and Ruth were, Nancy, James and Sally.
Can anyone help with the maiden name of Lavica Davis ? Was she Cherokee ? Any help at all will be appreciated, and I will exchange. Thank you very much. Melba
