I found James H. Lister in the 1880 Census in Gordon Co., Ga. It appears the family may have all moved that way from Forsyth Co.

Have you checked the Confederate Service records (book by Lillian Henderson very informative).

In 1880 , James H. age 40, Sonora, Dist 113, pg. 17; wife Sarah E. age 41; son David H. (1867); Ella E. (1869); Laura A. (1872), John O. (1875); Willis A. (1879).

On the same page, Henry Miller age 50, Nancy E. age 40. Possibly sister Nancy ? Names of children do not offer a clue : William 14, Lena 4, and Ida 2.

Cresia Lester is in the 1860 Forsyth Co. Census without David.

Further study of the Gordon Co. records may help.
Good luck... Pat
