Gardner Holcomb (b abt 1789) is shown in Martha Walters Acker's publications (tax rolls and deeds of Franklin Co.) as having owned about 200 acres of land on Leatherwood Creek in 1810. Nothing is shown indicating how or when Gardner acquired or disposed of this land, though he was in Miss. Territory by Oct. 1812. Does anyone know how Gardner acquired this land? The only other Holcombs shown on Leatherwood Creek were Sherwood and John. Gardner's land was in close proximity to that of John's, who I SUSPECT might be his father, but this is little more than speculation.
