In the book History of Franklin Co., GA by the Franklin Co. Historical Soc., pub. 1986, page 117, it is stated that one Samuel Bright was among a list of subscribers to a request of a passport (through Indian territory) by several men. The request was dated 14 Apr 1804. The psssport was to allow removal of the men, with their families, westward of the Cumberland mountains and through the Cherokee Nation. The subscribers were certifying that the men were honest, good citizens who had settled their
affairs and dealings with all persons in that part of the county, i. e. the Hudson river frontier of Franklin Co.
