Seeking to find family members of J. Singleton Waldrop, who was a 22-year old flight officer in World War II and whose hometown was then given as Atlanta, Georgia. He was killed along with 10 other servicemen when their B-24 Bomber crashed into a hillside in south-central Osborne County, Kansas on the night of September 22, 1943. In 2004 a granite memorial was dedicated at the crash site to the memory of these men who lost their lives in the service of their country. So far I have traced the families of eight of the eleven servicemen and have given them data pertaining to the crash, in many cases giving closure to family members who were never informed of the actual events surrounding the crash. Therefore would like to learn more about this young man and his family history, both for the local history of Osborne County and for his own family as well. Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated. Respectully, Von Rothenberger President Osborne County Genealogical & Historical Society Osborne, Kansas Notify Administrator about this message?
