I found a death certificate on the Georgia Archives web site for a W. H. Crow b. April 29, 1859, age 63 born Georgia, father Jim Crowe b. Georgia, mother unknown. died August 26, 1922. Residence was 20 Norcross Street, Fulton County. Informant was Mrs. W. H. Crowe, same address. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, undertaker was Harry G. Poole, Atlanta. He was a railroad car repairman. I found the family on the 1910 and 1920 Fulton County, Georgia, census, living in the same southwest section of Atlanta near the railroad tracks. Not found in 1900 probably due to poor index on Heritage Quest or bad handwriting or mispelling on census. Martha C. Crow, W. H. Crowe and Mr/Mrs. W. E. Crowe, Sr. are buried on a six grave space, Lot #55, Section F, of Greenwood Cemetery, in same section of Atlanta. Martha Crow d. July 1948. W. E. d. 1969. Mrs. W. E. d. 1960. Lot owners were Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Crowe, Sr. Does anyone recognize this working class Atlanta family? Was this W. H. Crow/e the same as Henry W. Crow/e, son of James Crow and Frances May Ann Allen who married in Clarke County, Georgia, in 1846? The family of this James Crow was in Clarke County in 1850 and 1860 and in Greene County in 1870 and 1880. They worked in mills rather than farmed. One son, Henderson Crow/e, married in Clarke County in 1890. His census information and the maiden name of his wife are somewhat scrambled and descendants are unknown. Except for him, his sister, Amanda Crow Toole, who married in Oconee County in 1875 and his brother, Stephen Crow/e, who married in Greene County c. 1870-1871, the rest of their children seem to have disappeared after 1880. Amanda Crow Toole and husband are buried in Magnolia Cemetery, Augusta, Georgia. Stephen Toole and his family are buried in West View Cemetery, Augusta, Georgia. Funeral home information when Stephen Crowe died mentioned notification to Henry Crow/e, Atlanta, Georgia. I have an old picture, early 1900's from dress, labeled Henry Crow that shows full front view of a young man, woman, and young daughter. Also one picture, head shot, of young woman, early 1900's labeled Lena Crow. In 1910 census there is a Lena Crowe in W. H.'s household. Any assistance/information would be greatly appreciated. I would like to crawl over this "stonewall" after over 40 years of research. Vivian Toole Cates,S. H. 21 W, Alto, Texas 75925 1-936-858-3801 Notify Administrator about this message?
