Im wondering if any of you could help me find surviving relatives of
"1st Lieutenant - Fred Anthony Barton USAAF (Service Number 0-826069)". Lt Barton was born on the 30th November 1923 and his last residing address was 1090 Faith Avenue S.E Atlanta, He was married to "Lillie Irene Barton" on the 19th February 1944 in Daugherty County Georgia, he also had a son "Fred Barton Jr". His Mother and father was "Annie L Barton" and Albert L. Barton, residing at RFD #7, Box 19 Atlanta Ga. His sister was "Mrs Robert Stanwell" residing at the time - Route Number seven, box 219 Atlanta Ga.
Lt Barton had been stationed here in Northern Ireland for a period of months after being stationed in England, he was assigned to ferrying aircraft to and from Langford Lodge air depot and in doing this he was killed on the 1st July 1945 in a mid air collision at Aughnacloy, a few miles from Langford Lodge. He was buried on the 4th July 1945 at Lisnabreeny american military cemetary, Belfast - Northern Ireland, he was later disinterred in 1947 and his remains returned home in 1948 to West View Cemetary, Atlanta Ga. I would be ever so greatful if anyone could help me find surviving relatives of Lt Barton as i am aware the family where not given any information surrounding the circumstances on the loss of there loved one.
many thanks.
