Seeking information on and/or descendants of Oliver MILLER, b. Apr 1859, living in Glynn County in 1900.
Oliver’s parents believed to have been A. (Alexander) Carter MILLER and Leonora A. MOODY, married 02 Feb 1858 in Floyd County GA, living in Savannah GA in 1870.
Leonora was daughter of Captain James Madison MOODY (b. ca 1816 Barnwell SC, d. 28 Aug 1875 Savannah) and Ann Eliza MARSHALL (b. 25 Dec 1813 Augusta GA, d. 17 Dec 1876 Savannah). In the 1850 census, she is living with her parents in Augusta. I can’t locate the MILLER family in the 1860 census.
In the 1870 census, A. Carter and Leonora A. MILLER are in Savannah, with three children: Oliver MILLER, b. ca 1859; John MILLER, b. ca 1862; and Lilla MILLER, b. ca 1864. Capt. and Ann MOODY are living next door.
In the 1880 census, Oliver and John MILLER are living together in Savannah, and are single. I can’t locate the parents, or the sister.
In the 1900 census, an Oliver MILLER, b. Apr 1859, is living in Glynn County GA, married to Gertrude (? PURSE), b. Sep 1864, and they have three children: Oliver MILLER Jr., b. Sep 1889; Edward MILLER, b. Mar 1895; and Purse MILLER, b. Jul 1897. Also in the household is a Steven PURSE, listed as an uncle. In 1920, this family is in Savannah, and has a fourth child: John MILLER, b. ca 1901.
