Does anyone have any information about the Ward Family, they were in Sugar Valley, Gordon County, Georgia. Thorton Ward Sr. was born between 1770-1804 in SC and he died before December 16, 1847, his wife's name was Elizabeth ? born about 1794. In the 1860 Gordon County Census she was 66 and living with her son Thorton M. Ward born about 1827 in Gordon County, died before 1910. His wife was Martha Jane King. Another possible son is Sampson Ward born about 1817 in SC and married to Martha B. ?. Thorton Ward and Elizabeth had a daughter Louisianna Ward born 1825 who married James Askew/Eskew on February 4, 1847 in Dekalb County, Georgia. Family history says that the Wards were from Ireland and could possibly have gone through NY and that Elizabeth could have been of Cherokee descent. Any information or leads at all would be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail me at thirtroof@aol.com or thirt@cfl.rr.com.
