I'm looking for info on James W. White and his spouse. I am not exactly sure of her first name, but I believe it is Ulemma. I would like to find out her correct first name and maiden name and any other info anyone may have on her (her parents names, etc.). Census records show she was born in GA and her father and mother both were born in GA. The info I have..... **James W. White b. Mar 1877 in GA, d. sometime between 1920-1923 approximately in Chattanooga, TN **Ulemma (?) b. Mar 1877 in GA, d. sometime between 1910-1920 ~ James W. and Ulemma were married in abt 1898. ~ In 1900 James W. and Ulemma (she is listed as Lemma on census records - the actual handwritten record looks like it might say Lemmer) were living in Sugar Valley, Gordon county, GA. They had one child, Mattie M. (b. Mar 1900), and one child already deceased. James W. is listed as a farmer. ~ In 1910 James W. and Ulemma (she is listed as Ulemina on census records - the actual handwritten record looks like it says Ulemma) were living in Sugar Valley, Gordon county, GA. They had the following children... *Mattie M. (b. Mar 1900) * Vassa C. (Cathleen?) (b. abt 1903) * Essie A. (Aileen) (b. abt 1903) * Luther L. (known as Luke) (b. abt 1905) * Ervin Dewitt (known as Dee or E.D. or Dewitt) (b. July 11, 1906) Vassa and Essie were twins. Ulemma is shown as the mother of 7 with 5 children living. ~ In 1920 James W. (listed as Jim) is a widower living in Chattanooga, TN with children Mattie, Kathleen (Vassa Cathleen?), Aileen (Essie Aileen?), Luther (known as Luke), and Dewitt (Ervin Dewitt). James W. (Jim) is listed as a machinist for a boiler company. A family member passed along that James W. died sometime between 1920-1923 approximately in Chattanooga, TN. The twins, Vassa Cathleen and Essie Aileen, both died in their teens from pneumonia. Luther (Luke) and Ervin Dewitt were raised by an uncle (Lewis White or Louis White - his known children and Herschel and Herman). The same family member also believes that James W.'s father's name was John Newton White and his (John Newton's) father's name was William White who fought in the Rev. war. The same family member also believes that Ulemma was of Cherokee heritage. Notify Administrator about this message?
