Seeking information on William Vinson, b ca 1834, Tenn; enumerated in the 1860 census of Gordon Co Ga; he also appears on the 1857 tax roll. I do not believe there are any other Vinsons in Gordon Co in 1860 or 1850, suggesting that he came to Gordon from Tenn in the 1850s. He does not appear with his family in 1870 nor does he appear on the 1867 Qualified Voters list, etc, suggesting he died between 1862 (birth of last child) and 1867-perhaps during Civil War (have not located a military record). He married Martha A. Penn about 1857 and had three children Edmund T. C. (c1858), Joann E (1860-c1901), and John A. P. (c1862). I descend from Joann E Vinson and James B. Tate. Would welcome any correspondence. jbryanlamar@yahoo.com
