Another possibility for you is that your Peter DuBose lived in Decatur County. The southern part of Cairo and all parts of Grady County, south and west of it were in Decatur County until Grady County was formed, around 1905. The Hayes Cemetery Survey's are on line.

Not relevant to the discussion but I thought it a bit wierd to receive this letter describing a person's move from Thomas County to "Jasper/Newton County, Texas." The reason is that I once lived in Thomas County, Ga and I now live in Jasper County-- right on the Newton County line. I pay taxes in Jasper but have a Newton County phone and the closest town to me is in Newton County.
