Thanks a million, your logic sounds pretty solid to me for a start on this puzzle. I believe the names give it away, as you note. I have not been able to do census records research as readily as would be ideal to dig this information out. If you can spare the time later on, could you please take a look and see what you see in those records for 1820 and 1830 to confirm what William and Mary Kemp's family looked like and where they were located in those days? I have a suspection that they may be from the Kemp group that migrated down from Greenville, SC to North GA over the period from about 1810 to 1850. They seem to have settled and moved around between Cobb, DeKalb, Gwinnett, Forsyth, Fulton and Paulding counties, at least so far as I have been able to determine.
