Doug contacted me, and we are indeed related.
He descends through John, Daniel Langley and wife Helena
("Lena" Whitworth)'s son.

I descend through Ada, their daughter. She was my g-grandmother. She married my g-grandfather Todd, 1900 in Denison, Grayson Co., TX. (Denison is 70 miles north of Dallas.)

In regard to the Langley children living in the home of Cashwell Brand: I believe he was their grandfather.

Syntha, Cashwell's daughter, married Henry Langley.
They had a son, William. (He was on the 1850 census with Syntha and Henry.) However, Syntha (Brand) Langley died in 1859. These Langley children then showed up in the household of her father, on the 1860 and 1870 census.

Then, on the 1880 Bay Creek, Gwinnett Co., GA census, Daniel Langley then shows up living with his wife, "Helena".
(She was the daughter of Charles Whitworth and her mother's name was Susan.)

Interestingly, James Brand (brother to Syntha) married Emily Langley. (She was the daughter of Miles Langley, and his first wife. First wife's name may have been, "D. Mulligan".) This Miles Langley is the line of Grady Langley. (Grady is well-known among genealogy researchers of this line. I believe he has been researching his line for about 35 years, and I have been corresponding with him for some years now.)

Grady found a census, where, although the "male" was not mentioned by name, it showed in the "male" category that there was a "male" in the household that would have fit the age of Henry Langley. We believe that Henry and Emily were possibly siblings.

(another Langley-Brand marriage, per Grady):
E. L. is the Rev. Elijah Logan Langley, son of Miles M. and Elizabeth Moore Langley.

J. N. Langley is John, son of Elijah Logan. His wife is Dora Parilee
(Brand).

Another interesting thing is:
Grady has told me that a "John McElvaney" has shown up in different records having to do with his Langleys.

There was a Sarah Brand, whose 2nd husband was:
John McElvaney.

The Henry Langley who was married to Syntha Brand, supposedly is the Henry Langley who died in "1862".

If that is the same Henry Langley:

Syntha (Brand) Langley died in "1859"
Langley children then show up living in the household of her father. (Cashwell Brand)

Where was Henry on the 1860 census?
I cannot find him in Gwinnett Co.
Was he in the military??

The Henry Langley who died in "1862", said by some who are researching this Brand family, that he was the one who was married to Syntha Brand...I have seen nowhere, where it was that he supposedly died? I have seen no further info., no other details, about that Henry Langley's death.

Grady informed me April 16, 2008:

" I got a CD that has Gwinnett Co. records for many cemeteries. I found a Henry Langley who died abt 1897 and is buried in the Lawrenceville Town Cemetery. The birth date is not given.

I have recently discovered that my Langley's (Jeptha V., Enoch W., Miles M., and their mother Nancy) all lived just south of Lawrenceville in Gwinnett Co. in 1850-186? At one time I thought they were south of Grayson, but only one Langley of the next generation, named Miles Jefferson Langley, lived there.

To refresh our memory, it was the

1850 census of Gwinnett Co., GA, Cates Dist., 36th Div., where Henry is found as head of household #447. He is 20 yrs. old, born in GA, a farmer, with wife Cynthia, age 19, born GA. Also in the household is William, age 11 months, born GA. In household

#445 is a widow Nancy Langley, living alone, age 60, born SC. This was my Nancy that died 1870.

Household #446 is the Andrew P. and Parmelia Beaver family. Andrew's 2nd wife is Lucinda Langley, daughter of my Jeptha.

Household #444 is Enoch W. and Elizabeth Langley and household

#443 is Jeptha V. and Catharine Langley.

So if your Henry lived near my Langley's, who lived near Lawrenceville, then maybe the Henry buried in Lawrenceville is him."

----
I am hoping that someone can provide us with something, where we can bring this together. It seems that the puzzle pieces are there, we just don't have the actual proof.
(That my Daniel Samuel Langley - parents seemingly Syntha Brand and Henry Langley) was kinned to Grady's Langley line.)

Thank you.
