Sounds like they may be connected. Here is all the additional information I have on Bells in the area: According to another post on genforum (Bell genforum, #6235), Walter Bell sold a lot of land in Hall County in 1825 and 1837. I have seen references to an Abner Bell and a Pinckney Bell who were from Hall County and might have been related to Walter. In the 1840 census for Hall Co. GA, there are the following Bells: p. 175, 385th district A. W. Bell 1 m 10<15 1 m 40<50 2 f 10<15 1 f 60<70 W. M. Bell 2 m 5<10 3 m 10<15 1 m 40<50 2 f <5 1 f 30<40 (next door) Wm. Bell 2 m <5 1 m 70<80 1 f <5 1 f 15<20 1 f 30<40 p. 183, 942nd district A. W. Bell 2 m <5 2 m 20<30 1 f <5 1 f 20<30 (note that I didn't check whether they had slaves in my preliminary search) Another Hall county genforum post (#406) lists the wife of Abner Bell as Nancy Kirk Smith, widow of Robert Allen Smith. Family tree information on Ancestry.com shows Christopher Columbus Bell as the child of Abner and Nancy, and children Charles Smith (1800), John Hurt Hendrick Smith (1802), William Thornton Smith (1808) and Eliza Robert Smith (1817) as Nancy's children by her first husband. Wonder if the A. W. is for Abner Walter? There is a Walter Bell on the Georgia Tax Index for 1799 in the Occonnee district of Jackson County. Karen Notify Administrator about this message?
