Isom Thornton wasn't in the 1830 Hancock Co., GA census. And he wouldn't have been with 12 children. Seven was all he and his wife had. He married in June 1805 and took up with a woman in 1825 and his wife divorced him in 1832 in Troup Co., GA. His son, Rhodom, was Administrator of his estate in 1841 Troup Co., GA as follows: Clks office 8th Sept 1841 Upon the application of Rhodam Thornton praying temporary letters of administration upon the Estate of Isham Thornton dec’d, I Wiley Wilson Clerk of the court of ordinary did this day by virtue of the power in me vested by law grant Said letters upon the Said Rhodam Thornton entering into bond in the Sum of three thousand two hundred dollars with Willis P. Sterling, Joseph McAfee, Josiah Benson, James Hathcox & Isham W. Thornton as his Securities, & upon his taking the oath prescribed by Law before me. Wiley Wilson CCO Whereas Rhodam Thornton applies to me for letters of admin. upon the Estate of Isham Thornton dec’d, I have this day issued Citation accordingly. Wiley Wilson CCO [Source: Troup County, Georgia, Court of Ordinary, Minutes, Vols. A & B (1827—1848), p. 225.] Josiah Benson may have been Rhodom's father-in-law, James Hathcox was a brother-in-law, Isham W. Thornton was Rhodom's brother. I have nothing on William Thornton or his descendants. The last census I found Isom on was the 1820 Hancock Co., GA census with his wife and 7 children. In 1830 two of those children was married and new parents of one child each and in Pike Co., AL. They were back in Troup Co., GA in 1840. Don't know if this helps you or not but I like sharing it. Some of it was shared to me. Roger
